Our softest throw: lambswool, woven as a classic Glen check on one side and plain on the other, with fringes at both ends.

Lambswool comes from a young sheep’s first shearing. Its fibres are finer than those of older animals and still have their soft natural tips, which is why “Glen” feels so smooth.

The Glen check, the pattern of the classic tailored suit, is woven into one side; the other side is plain: grey with charcoal, or brown with dark brown. Turn it to suit the room or the season, the check for a tailored look, the plain side for calm.

At 350 g/m² it is dense and warm without feeling heavy. 140 × 200 cm is enough to wrap up in on the sofa or to lay across the bed.

A throw to give, or to keep for yourself.

140 × 200 cm, plus 10 cm fringes at each end · 100% pure new wool, lambswool · two sides: Glen check and plain · 350 g/m², about 1 kg · Woolmark and OEKO-TEX® Standard 100

Wool rarely needs washing: airing it usually freshens it, marks can be dabbed with cold water, and if it needs more, take it to a professional cleaner.

A little story

The first cold evening

It is the first really cold evening in October. Outside it gets dark early; inside a candle is burning and the tea is still brewing.

You pull the throw off the arm of the sofa, put it round your shoulders and notice how quickly it warms you, without weighing you down. The book stays open on your lap.

These are the evenings we chose our throws for: pure wool, calm colours, and a size you can wrap yourself up in completely.

Pure new wool, tested

100% pure new wool

New wool, made into a product for the first time: no recycled fibres.

OEKO-TEX® Standard 100

Tested for harmful substances, to the requirements for textiles that touch the skin.

Woolmark

The quality mark for wool: pure new wool of tested quality.

Looking after wool

Everyday care

Wool needs very little care. Airing it now and then keeps it fresh and soft.

  • Air your throw now and then outdoors or by an open window, out of direct sun.
  • Give it a good shake so the fibres stand up again.
  • Dab a mark straight away with cold water; don’t rub.

A thorough clean

If it needs more than airing, take it to a professional cleaner. That keeps your wool beautiful for longest.

  • We don’t recommend a washing machine, not even on the wool cycle.
  • No tumble dryer either. Let it dry flat in the air, away from radiators and direct sun.
  • No need to iron. Wool finds its shape again by itself.

Questions about our throws

Short answers on wool, size and care.

What does pure new wool mean?

Pure new wool is new wool: shorn from the sheep and made into a product for the first time, so no recycled wool. Our throws are made of 100% pure new wool.

Is wool itchy?

Wool is softer than many people think, but it is a natural fibre with character: on bare skin some people find it a little prickly. The softest is “Glen”, in lambswool.

Which size do I need?

“Rune” (130 × 170 cm) sits nicely over the arm of the sofa or on an armchair. “Fjord”, “Hytte” (both 150 × 200 cm) and “Glen” (140 × 200 cm) are big enough to wrap up in on the sofa, or to use as a blanket on the bed.

How do I look after my throw?

Usually airing it and giving it a shake is enough. Dab a mark with cold water. If it needs more, take it to a professional cleaner. Please no washing machine and no tumble dryer.

Is there a discount with a sheepskin or cowhide?

Yes. Order the throw together with a sheepskin or a cowhide and you get 15% off the throw, taken off automatically at checkout.
