Cowhide patterns explained

No two cowhides are alike, but they fall into a few families, each with its own character. Here is a guide to the patterns you will find in our collection.
Brown
The easiest to love. Brown cowhides bring warmth to a room and sit beautifully with wood, leather, linen and stone. Every one has its own shade and pattern.
Black and white
The cowhide everyone recognises. Black and white adds contrast and personality, from a calm Scandinavian look to something bold and modern.
Brindle
Fine natural stripes that flow across the hide. From across the room the pattern looks soft and even; up close, every stripe has its own path. Brindle is one of the less common patterns.
Salt and pepper
A speckle of light and dark hairs that looks calm and understated. Salt and pepper is a lovely choice if you like a cowhide that feels quiet rather than loud.
Black, grey, brown and white, tricolour
Black cowhides are elegant, with a soft sheen that changes as you walk past. Grey hides are calm and modern. Brown and white feels warm and friendly, and tricolour brings three natural colours together in one lively pattern.
How to choose
For a warm, easy room, go brown. For contrast, black and white. For something a little different, brindle or salt and pepper. Whatever you choose, every hide is photographed on its own, so the pattern you fall for is the pattern you receive.
