Wool is naturally self cleaning. Regular airing keeps your blanket light and fresh without frequent washing.

  • Air the blanket outside on a covered line on a regular basis and avoid direct sunlight.
  • Gently shake it so dust comes away and the fibres can breathe.
  • The lanolin in the wool repels dirt and odours so light airing is usually enough.

Washing and professional cleaning

When a deeper clean is needed use a gentle wool cycle or choose professional care so softness and shape are preserved.

  • Machine wash on the wool cycle at 30 °C with a mild liquid wool detergent.
  • Do not iron. Wool fibres spring back by themselves.
  • Use a tumble dryer only if there is a special wool programme.
  • Professional care (recommended): Instead of washing the blanket yourself you can take it to dry cleaning (“P”) or an eco cleaning service (“F”) every 6–12 months. This is optional but a gentle way to help it stay beautiful for longer.

Does wool itch?

A short time airing outdoors, without direct sun, usually clears the scent completely. Make sure the blanket is fully dry before storing it and avoid plastic. A breathable cotton bag is better. If needed, a gentle wool wash with mild liquid wool detergent freshens it up perfectly.

Do wool blankets shed or pill?

A little surface fluff at the start is normal and settles with use. Try to avoid heavy friction and skip fabric softener. A wool comb or a fabric shaver keeps the surface neat.
